Regular on-time payments for over 6 years. Two incomes suddenly dropped to one, trying to work out repayment but Washington Mutual refuses any help, blocks anything that would help bring us current. Late charges keep acumulating, we just need temporary help, we offer payments but... - WM's suggestion - do a short sale and give up our home. Gee, got any other tricks up your sleeves???? Some actual help would have been great...let's see now,... Read more

My wife had a credit card account with Chase/Washington Mutual. She used it to purchase all merchandise for our home business. She set up monthly payment thru her checking account to pay every month. Then one day, my wife decided to pay more to reduce the balance faster. She logged on her bank account and modified the current payment plan to pay twice a month with same amount (she used to pay $500/month, with the revised plan, it would pay her... Read more

It does not make sense to payoff Washington Mutual when your account has been closed! I paid off Wamu, 2 years ago for an account that was closed in the negative $350. I called them to see if I could reopen the account since this was paid off, and guess what? This is what the risk management employee said,"Because we had to send your past due amount to a collection agency, and it costed us money, then you cannot open a free checking account,... Read more

I opened a Washington Mutual Credit Card in August of 07. I used and paid the card over the next 14 months. However, I was laid off my job in May of 08. I kept up payments through Sept of 08 before asking for the credit protection policy to take effect and cover payments. I submitted forms as instructed. The credit protection was never put into place although I paid premiums on it through 10/08. I rec'd harassing phone calls from... Read more

Washington Mutual Bank credit cards were just taken over by Chase Bank NY. These people just raised my interest rate on my card from 19.9% to 29.9% for no reason. They would not give me an answer when I called them why the did it. I always pay on time, never missed a payment, always pay more than required, and they won't tell me why they raised the rates. Consumers beware these people are a rip-off, always check your credit card statements very... Read more

Washington Mutual / soon to be Chase Bank raised my rates from 19.9% to 29.9% for Jan. 2009 for no reason. I have had this credit card for 4 years and never been late (never), I always pay twice the min. payment like ( min. due $100 then I pay $200 ) and always a good customer. I called them tonight and asked why and the lady said " I don't know why and I cant change the rates".She said I'm so sorry 15 times but still would not give me... Read more
